Princess Of Wales Regiment in Arundel, Workshops, Arundel Notebooks and The Arundel Festival

Hello from Arundel Eccentrics.

It's been awhile since I've blogged.

 All  been rather hectic.

I trust life is treating you well?

Workshops

These last couple of weeks we've had some great workshops.
The people who come are delightful.
Last week three workshoppers
 enjoyed two days.

They  got along like old friends.

We introduced them to several techniques
 and they
painted and distressed,
crackle glazed and craquelured
& tried their hand at gilding.

All that, coupled with a  vegetarian lunch
made for a sociable couple of days.

Hard for everyone to get back to work in the
afternoon as the lunches were convivial affairs.

Wonderful interludes with conversations
covering all sorts of diverse subjects.

Interested in doing a day or two?

Princess of Wales Regiment in Arundel

Last week saw the Princess of Wales Regiment
marching through Arundel given the freedom of the town.

It was a glorious hot Sunday
The town was bursting with people  who came to watch.

The soldiers were given a warm welcome, rapturous applause
and much waving of flags as they marched
up the High Street ,down Tarrant Street
up Maltravers and back down the High Street.

all the local dignitaries awaiting the procession

Our Mayor Michael Tu and The Duchess of Norfolk

Finally there were speeches from both local
and army dignitaries and a short service in the town square.
People poured into town and many it would appear,
found it an emotional experience.

Arundel Festival Fundraiser

Looking forward to a night out at the castle on Wednesday.

My chum Allie and I are going  to the Festival Fundraiser
up in the grounds of Arundel castle.
 It certainly sounds like fun.
Tickets are £15 and includes a curry supper..
donated by the local Indian Restaurant.
You might be interested to check it out online.

The lovely shop on the town quay
"RSVP"
are selling tickets.

The Festival is fast approaching.
There are some pictures of festivals over
the past couple of years on our
Facebook page to get you in the mood.

Morrocan goodies

Nass went to London last week as he had an antique delivery for a client.
I travelled with him in the van and we bought a few items for our forthcoming venture.

In our antiques warehouse we will be having
a small area with new interior items for gifts and the home.

We used to stock some lovely new interior pieces but
didn't have the room to keep
them separate from the antiques.

It confused some folk, and one lady was heard to say,to her husband

" Oh ! Bert look.... is it antique or is it reproducing?"

Yes she really did .. LOL

 Anyway, I digress

It will be open in time for the Arundel Festival.

I am feeling really looking forward to it as
it will add a new dimension to the showroom.

We found some gorgeous Moroccan pieces.
Amongst them were the beautiful bowls I saw in Marrakech.

We used to sell them a few years ago and
they practically walked out of the showroom.
Lets hope they get the same reception this time.

We will  be having a big Christmas event this year.
Do let me know if you would
like a private view evening invitation.

If you would like to go on the list for future
events please also let me know.
They are always such fun and very sociable.

By the way, did I tell you we have a new neighbour down
in antiques land off the beaten track?
Or maybe that should be "down the road less travelled" LOL

Anyway, they are called French Loft and have
been there since the beginning of the year.
It's made a huge difference
as we have become a destination
to browse now that we have
 more antiques venues.

Victorian Bamboo

The shippers collected from us for a couple of our biggest clients last week, so it was an extremely busy week finishing decoration on Victorian bamboo items.

It's always so rewarding  when you find a scruffy,
 rickety bamboo table or
19th century chest of drawers  and manage to turn them into this.

Arundel Notebooks

We have our new Arundel Notebook on their way.
At the printers even as we speak.

They are full of colour photos of Arundel,
and plenty of pages for  pearls of wisdom to be written.

Well, lovely as its been sitting and chatting I must press on.
My little house is full again of half finished pieces.

have a great day
