Antiques Off The Beaten Track...Mangan Antiques and The Vintage Garden Company

 Good Morning
from
Arundel Eccentrics

House and Garden Magazine

Well I managed to finish the chest of drawers for the
House and Garden Magazine shoot.
The courier collected it this morning.

It will be in the May issue of
House and Garden,
the one that's sold in April.

It's always great to have
 a piece in one of
the glossies.

We have loads of enquiries afterwards.

One of our bamboo cabinets.

Antiques Off The Beaten Track

You'll often find antique and unusual interior items,
in places well away from main high streets.

In barns,warehouses, traders own homes.

This is for a variety of reasons.
Exorbitant shop rents.
The need for more space than a high street shop may give.
The convenience of working at or near home.

A million and one reasons.

Finding these places has become a little easier with the internet.
Sometimes you just happen to come upon them, by chance.

Sally and her husband,
Rupert,
run

The Vintage Garden Company

from their home
 in a lovely rural setting,
on the A29 near Pulborough.

Nass and I just happened
 upon it one day,
a few years ago.

Here is a little about them taken from
 their website ( thanks Sally)
 & some photographs of
 a few of the wonderful
vintage and antique pieces they sell.

They specialise in vintage and antique decorative garden reclamation.
Their courtyard shop, situated in Sussex,
stocks everything from architectural antique garden urns to handmade,
 vintage flowerpots.
They  also stock traditionally made garden items including iron plant supports.

Mangan Antiques

Just outside Chichester
nestling in the small
 country village
 of Runcton
you'll find
Mangan Antiques.

Down a winding unmade road,
you'll be delighted, trust me,
when you see  their very
large warehouse showroom.

Husband and wife team
Julie and Rudi
will give you an extremely warm welcome.

You may be given coffee or tea,
and if you have travelled a
 distance to see them,
maybe even a nice chilled
 glass of Italian wine.

For, visiting their antiques warehouse
 is an entire experience.

Selling to both international dealers and local trade.
Their large barn is packed full of an eclectic mix of
furniture, chandeliers, mirrors and object art
picked from Italy, France and England,
from 18th century carvings to 1960’s designer pieces.

The first thing you will notice on entering are the chandeliers.

Well, that and their lovely assistant Millie.

Chandeliers are their speciality
 and their sister company,
or should I say brother,

will renovate and restore,
clean or  rewire your own chandeliers.

Take a little meander  through the showroom......

They regularly travel to Italy to buy.

You  will also find
Mangan Antiques at
Ardingly and Newark Antiques Fairs

Just look for the Italian flag fluttering high above their stand.

They  offer an antiques prop hire service for film,
TV and photography and a vintage crockery
hire service for vintage themed events

Julie and Rudi are great friends of ours.

We share a Sunday Lunch with them and
other chums a few times a year.

We always adore going to their home.
Rudi was once a chef and he and Julie
had a fantastic restaurant
in Chichester a few years ago.

You always know you're in for a real treat when you go there.

Its usually a good idea to wear stretchy trousers. LOL

Their home is as beautiful as their shop.

We all go for a brisk walk along the beach afterwards.

Millie

Friends.......

Have a good day
