MS and Running a 5K
I won't lie.
I was nervous.
Downright scared, as a matter of fact....
....for my extraordinary husband.
But...in true Nass style, he succeeded in what he set out to achieve... how could I have doubted ..even for a moment.
He wanted to raise money for a local cause.
Tick.
Over a grand raised.
He wanted to do it by running the Littlehampton 5k.
Ah there, I thought, lay the problem.
MS is a blighter.
Some days Nass's walking is not good.
The legs can collapse at a moments notice.
A bit of training at the gym holding onto the walking machine is one thing...running along a windy seafront and staying upright?
Quite a different ball game.
But the intrepid Nass had thought this one through.
Golf trolley...not weighted down with a sack of spuds..which was tested at the first trials..no, no, ...too unsteady...spuds fell off.
.....weighted down with a small bag of cement.
So...on an extremely gusty day on Littlehampton seafront

..Nass ran his 5k in 49 minutes 48 seconds...pushing a red golf trolley containing the aforementioned cement.....
That surely must be a first in the history of all 5 k's?
Which ain't bad for someone who has MS and suffered 3 cardiac arrests.
Thank you so much to our old friend Tim Bridge..AKA George... who ran alongside.
All those windswept friends who came to support .
All the kind comments and donations.
Nass said, on the way home,
" This is the last mad thing I'm going to do,"
But my friends...I'll get that in writing....
Have a great weekend.
