Signs, Open Evening & California

Signs....or Lack Of

We work off the beaten track.

For a number of reasons.

Exorbitant rents on the high street being the main one.
But it's not only that.

It also gives us the ambience and the space that we need.

We are in a 19th-century warehouse.
Once the Arundel Swallow Brewery.

The last remaining buildings of the brewery
and the last of the 19th-century warehouses in the town.

(Apart from Blast Treat over the road that is.
The site destined to house yet more retirement flats in a year or so.)

It's quirky and a little scruffy around the edges.
But we love it.

The main problem is telling people where we are
Articles like this don't exactly help.
Read the bit about antiques.

We had a couple of signs on the bridge until recently.
That was great.
It helped business no end.

They simply said
"Antiques
Over the bridge
Behind the Co-op"

Sadly, we heard someone was miffed
we were getting trade round in the
backwaters.

It seems they complained to the council.
So the council wrote and said to take them away or they would fine us.

We chanced it later on.
Business is hard hey?

Just put them out Saturday a.m.
Took them in Sunday p.m.

Someone out there really wasn't happy.

They made sure the council emailed us again.
The signs are now gone for good.

Well, maybe we can slide them out during the festival!

It's mad when you count how many signs there are in town.

Why specifically those two signs?

Anyway.
If you have any idea who we can speak
to about legitimate signs that would be good.

Meanwhile....that's why we hold events.
A little something to say
"Ta Da here we are."

And a bit of fun into the bargain.

So...here our next Open Evening
Locals love it.
They have started putting the date in their social diary.

Come along and see what it's all about.

It does get busy...so if you don't like crowds you might want to come early.

Found this interesting..being a Brighton Gal

Maybe next year Leonardo might come over
Since he will be on our doorstep
Who knows!

California

This time last year we were sunning in California

How we miss our son and his little family.

Ha ha where did all those years go??
