Lights...Camera...Action
Occasionally we get asked to appear on TV antique and interior programmes.
Having an antiques showroom off the main high street and not easy to find,
I've always thought it a great idea..
The production company for Salvage Hunters called three times asking us if we would appear in their last series.
..flattered our business should be asked...
Nass?
Not so much.
"The experience"
I say-
He grimaces.
" The advertising?"
My confidence waning by now...
Then he reminds me.....
"They don't always turn out as expected."
There was Celebrity Roadtrip with the delightful Alison Steadman.
Nass didn't want to appear on camera...but I put heart and soul into it.
Met them down the drive.
Chatted.
Showed them round.
I'm not saying I was vivacious..but I did try.
When it came to the bartering... I stood back for the reticent Nass to haggle.
And that's what aired.
Me.
Silent.
Looking nervous.
Looking a bit of an idiot, if I'm honest.
I spent hours afterwards praying that no one would see it...
I cringe and hide when I hear it's being repeated.
Then there was.. 60 Minute Makeover.
With Peter Andre.
I convinced my friend Allie to come along and help.
We drove to Surrey....with trepidation
But... we needn't have worried.
Peter Andre was friendly and put us at ease.
Martyn Lawrence Bullard.
A joy to work with.
We did a good job considering the time available.
Martyn seemed impressed and said he would love to use us on a " proper job one day,"

....but it gave us a boost.
....the programme aired...
The film crew hadn't noticed.

I never realised...
I was wearing my work apron.....
with "Arundel Eccentrics"
emblazoned across the front.
No advertising allowed...
Most of what we had done had been cut...

There's usually an upside though...
Two old friends....one in Australia another in Canada who I had lost touch with years before....
happened to see the programme..

happened to see the programme..
...and my very fleeting image..
...both tracked me down.
Nass and I visited Martyn Lawrence Bullard in Los Angeles when we stayed with our son in California.
We were invited for afternoon tea in his studio...which was wonderful.
( Nass is still not convinced though and I think my filming days might be well over....)
